TERMINAL 2 OF NANCHANG CHANGBEI AIRPORT

TERMINAL 2 OF NANCHANG CHANGBEI AIRPORT

Location:

Mainland China (中国), Asia

Architect/Specifier:

Airport Design Institute of CAAC With a total floor area of 96,000sqm, Terminal 2 (T2) of Nanchang Changbei Airport sits on the north side of Terminal 1 and is 3.5 times as large as the latter. The design scheme gives the terminal a “main terminal building + east & west corridors” structure, which not only accentuates its relationship with T2 but also gives considerations to the future development of the airport and provides a proper framework and platform for long-term development. The design scheme, which perfectly integrates function, structure, industrial features and architectural shapes, fully embodies the architectural concepts based on the water and mountain textures of Jiangxi. Poyang Lake, Lushan Mountain and Tengwang Pavilion all serve as sources of design aspirations. Meanwhile, the organic combination of aluminum panels, steel components, glass and semitransparent energy-saving materials reflects the aesthetic rhythm of modern airport buildings. The mixed use of metal honeycomb panel and glass on the façade not only highlights a contrastive effect, but also satisfies the requirements for energy saving and lighting.
